INTERMEDIATE LAND USE PLANNER
THE FIRM:
Corbett Land Strategies Inc. (CLS) is a rapidly growing planning and land development firm offering
a wide range of residential, industrial, and commercial land use planning expertise. We specialize in
providing private and public sector clients with community planning, strategic development, and
land use approvals advice. Located in Oakville, Ontario, CLS provides services to clients
throughout the Greater Toronto Area.
THE OPPORTUNITY:
Due to a rapidly expanding client base, CLS requires the services of an Intermediate Land Use
Planner to join their team. This is the perfect opportunity to grow your career with a new and
emerging firm in the western GTA with an exciting portfolio of projects and clients. You will have the
opportunity to work alongside highly respected individuals and report directly to the principals of
the firm with respect to:
• Urban and community planning/urban design;
• Development feasibility;
• Development approvals;
• Land acquisition strategies;
• Development and landowner co-ordination and project management; and,
• Expert and advisory services.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
You will expand your expertise in land use planning and development approvals through:
• Analyzing the planning status of potential development sites;
• Undertaking planning and research analysis;
• Preparation of site plans, concept building elevations, landscape, open space and
streetscape plans;
• Preparation of detailed urban design studies in support of development applications;
• Preparing presentations and mapping/design documents;
• Preparing municipal development applications including official plan amendments zoning
by-laws, site plans, and plans of subdivisions;
• Liase with clients by phone, email and writing;
• Preparation of Proposals;
• Participate in project management through budgeting, invoicing and staff management;
and,
• Other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• 3-5 years required experience in a relevant and professional environment;
• University Degree in Landscape Architecture, Architecture, Urban Planning, Urban Design
or equivalent;
• Thorough knowledge of the Ontario Planning Act, Provincial Policy Statement, Growth Plan
for the Greater Golden Horseshoe, Greenbelt Plan & Oak Ridges Moraine Conservation Plan
and experience with land development tribunals such as the Local Planning Appeals
Tribunal (LPAT);
• Skilled in manual drafting, technical drawing as well as working knowledge of computeraided
drawing, graphics three-dimensional modeling and rendering software packages such
as AutoCAD, Adobe Photoshop/Illustrator, Sketchup and CorelDraw
• Project management experience with excellent organizational skills to guide projects and
direct research;
• Proficient in report writing and presentation using Microsoft Office applications
• Membership in Ontario Association of Architects (O.A.L.A), Ontario Professional Planners
Institute (O.P.P.I) or Ontario Association of Architects (O.A.A.)
